Mishawaka, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots (15-23, 8-18) grabbed two wins (11-7, 6-5) vs. the Marian Knights (13-21, 7-15) with an Andrew Miranda three-run walk-off home run to win the second game.

GAME 1

The Pilots took charge in the bottom of the second inning when Silas Kaser and Jordan Landkrohn each got on base, which set up nicely for Thomas Dolan to gain an RBI, followed by Andrew Miranda, that brought in a Pilot for a 2-0 lead.

The Pilots added two more runs off three hits in the bottom of the third, thanks to Cooper Tolson and Corbin Greenslade, each having at-bats that would bring a runner home.

Marian’s offense started in the top of the fourth and continued in the fifth with six combined runs for the Knights.

Bethel’s offense continued to dominate with a run that scored in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to put the Pilots up 11-6.

Bethel’s defense stopped the Knights from a comeback after allowing one run from Marian in the top of the eighth and no runs in the ninth. (Final 11-7)

Brad VanOverberghe is now 4-4 on the season after his five-inning affair allowing six runs on six hits on 91 pitches.

GAME 2

Bethel started hot as they earned three runs off four hits in the bottom of the first with hits from Andrew Miranda (double), Jeremy Wiersema, Eli MacDonald, and Cooper Tolson.

Not much happened until the Knights came back with two runs of their own on three hits in the top of the third from a two run RBI from Estep (MU).

Marian continued to chip away at the lead as they added another run in the top of the fourth and two in the sixth.

Marian was up 5-3 with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Andrew Miranda hit a three-run RBI bomb over the right field fence, which won the Pilots the game 6-5.

Frank Plesac is 3-5 on the season after pitching for six innings, allowing five runs off six hits on 101 pitches.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots will continue to battle the Knights tomorrow, April 15, in another doubleheader that starts at 1:00 p.m.
