MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—The Bethel Pilots (8-7, 4-3) fell to the No. 15 St. Thomas University Bobcats (10-1, 7-0) 3-0 in the Fernandez Family Center on Monday.
Thomas Dunkley led the team in kills with 13, and six digs.
Christian Woumnga totaled 12 kills for the Pilots.
Pablo Tello recorded eight kills, three digs, one block, and one ace.
In the first set, Satana Roybal-Benson scored the first kill of the game, assisted by McGwire Eigenrauch (1-0).
Christian Woumnga posted a kill to bring Bethel’s score up 4-2.
St. Thomas reclaimed the lead with a six-point run, leading 8-4 as Bethel called their first timeout of the game.
Following the break, the Pilots consistently recorded strings of two points to decrease the Bobcat lead.

St. Thomas ultimately won the first set 25-22, after Christian Woumnga scored the last kill for the Pilots.
In the second set, Christian continued to be aggressive at net with a kill to kick off the Pilots’ scoring (1-1).
Bethel went point for point with the Bobcats and did not see a significant run until the latter half of the set.
The Pilots scored four consecutive points, tying the score 19-19 with a kill by Thomas Dunkley.
The Pilots soon took the lead with a kill by Jibbe Boeren, assisted by hitter Thomas Dunkley 21-20.
In the battle for points, Thomas Dunkley tied the score 23-23 with a kill.
Bethel surrendered the second set to the Bobcats, 25-23. as St. Thomas pulled away with the last two points.
In the final set of the game, Santana Roybal-Benson scored the first kill for the Pilots (1-1).
The Bobcats showcased an early four-point run, but the Pilots presented their own three-point run mid set to bring the score 15-14, trailing by one.
Pablo Tello scored the last earned point of the night with a kill (21-18).
The Pilots dropped the final set 25-19 after a service error.
Bethel will continue their spring break series against Webber International University (8-1, 3-1) on Tuesday, March 4 at 10 a.m. They will compete on the Jessica Costanzo Court at the Sabbagh Athletic Center
