NOTRE DAME, Ind. — University of Notre Dame Softball coach Deanna Gumpf is retiring after 23 seasons.
She retires as the winningest coach in school history… in any sport.
Her teams won 882 games and made 21 straight N-C-double-A Tournament appearances.
“Notre Dame softball has been one of the greatest gifts I have ever received and I am incredibly grateful to have had the honor of leading this program over the past 23 years,” said Gumpf. “This has been an incredible journey. Retiring has not been an easy decision, but it is the right decision.”
Gumpf was named Regional Coach of the Year 5 times.
