Ohio State and Oregon Earn Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards
Buckeyes’ Burns and Boutte and Ducks’ Cox are first honorees of the 2025 season

Player of the Week
Jasmyn Burns, Ohio State

So. – C/UT – Menifee, Calif. – Murrieta Mesa – Major: Psychology

  • Hit .714 with two home runs, seven RBI and a 1.143 slugging percentage as Ohio State opened its season with four wins at the Elon Softball Classic
  • Was 3-for-4 with a home run and a career-high five RBI in the Buckeyes’ 13-0 win over North Carolina Central on Friday
  • Hit a two-run home run in the first inning of a 3-1 win against UConn on Sunday
  • Recorded multiple hits in each of Ohio State’s four games and had a .733 on-base percentage

Pitcher of the Week

Lorin Boutte, Ohio State

Fr. – RHP – St. Charles, Mo. – Francis Howell – Major: Marketing

  • Went 3-0 and did not allow an earned run over 12.1 innings with 25 strikeouts to help Ohio State finish 4-0 at the Elon Softball Classic
  • Pitched a no-hitter in the Buckeyes’ season-opening win over North Carolina Central, striking out 13 of the 16 batters she faced
  • Became just the third Ohio State freshman to pitch a no-hitter in the last 24 years and the first since 2014
  • Struck out five batters in 3.1 innings vs. Elon and seven batters in 4.0 innings of work against UConn, surrendering just two hits and one walk over the 12.1 innings she pitched on the weekend

Freshman of the Week

Emma Cox, Oregon

C – Thornton, Colo. – Flatirons Academy – Major: Undeclared

  • Hit .500 to help Oregon score a record number of runs, going 5-0 at the UNLV Desert Classic with wins over Southern Utah, Buffalo and UNLV
  • Went 9-for-18 with two doubles, two home runs and six RBI for a slugging percentage of .944
  • Oregon’s 73 runs were the most the program has scored over any five-game span in team history
  • Cox becomes the first Oregon player to be named Freshman of the Week
