Ohio State Earns No. 1 NCAA Committee Ranking

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State (10-1-2, 5-1-1) will take a No. 1 ranking in the first NCAA DI Men’s Soccer Committee ratings into its home match against Northwestern Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The Buckeyes are currently tied for second in the Big Ten standings with 16 points. Nationally, Ohio State has the best winning percentage (.833) and owns one of the top scoring offenses in the country.

Ohio State is second nationally in points per game (8.08), shots per game (8.17) and total goals (33).

The NCAA committee ranking is based on the criteria used to select and seed the 48 teams for the Division I Men’s Soccer Championship and in no particular order includes strength of schedule, Rating Percentage Index, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, strength and results against non-conference opponents, late season performance in the last eight games and strength and results against conference opponents.

The 2024 championship field will consist of 23 automatic conference qualifiers and 25 at-large selections, which will be revealed Monday, Nov. 18 on ncaa.com. The Top 16 teams will be seeded and receive first round byes before hosting second round games.

The tournament opens Thursday, Nov. 21 as the championship will take place at campus sites through the quarterfinals as teams look to earn a trip to the Men’s College Cup.

The 2024 Men’s College Cup heads back to Cary, North Carolina, this year with the semifinals Friday, Dec.13, and the championship match on Monday, Dec. 16.

The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament will be held in Bridgeview, Illinois, at SeatGeek Stadium Nov. 7 and No. 10, respectively. The league championship match will be played at the home of the highest remaining seed, No. 17.
