Ohio State, Nebraska and Michigan Collect Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards
Buckeyes’ Frye, Huskers’ Bahl and Wolverines’ Putz earn weekly recognition

 

Player of the Week

Morgan Frye, Ohio State
Gr. – OF/UTL – Suwanee, Ga. – North Gwinnett – Major: Environmental Assessment

  • Hit .900 as the Buckeyes went 5-0 last week with a series sweep of Michigan State and wins over Green Bay and Youngstown State
  • Recorded six extra base hits (four doubles, two home runs), seven RBI, a 1.900 slugging percentage and a .923 on-base percentage
  • Frye was 7-for-8 with two home runs and four RBI in three wins at Michigan State, tallying at least one extra-base hit in each game
  • Finished with multiple hits in three of Ohio State’s five games

Pitcher of the Week

Jordy Bahl, Nebraska

Jr. – RHP – Papillion, Neb.  – Papillion-La Vista – Major: Child, Youth and Family Studies

  • Pitched 8.1 innings and had an ERA of 0.00, recording one win and a save in Nebraska’s 3-0 weekend vs. Minnesota
  • Claimed the victory in the Huskers’ first game against Minnesota and recorded a save in game two of the series
  • Limited opponents to a .077 batting average and only allowed one hit out of the infield across 8.1 innings
  • Allowed no runs and two hits while striking out nine in the process

Freshman of the Week

Lauren Putz, Michigan

1B/DP – Phoenix, Ariz.  – Xavier College Preparatory – Major: Sport Management

  • Hit .417 (5-for-12) over two games apiece against Maryland and Wisconsin
  • Posted a 1.083 slugging percentage with two doubles, two home runs and six RBI and a .462 on-base percentage
  • Went 2-for-3 with four RBI in the weekend opener against the Terrapins and drove in the game-tying run in the third inning in the second game vs. Maryland
