Olivia Nickerson Breaks Bethel Record for Single Game Triples in win at Ave Maria

AVE MARIA, Fla. — The Bethel Pilots (9-4) defeated the Ave Maria Gyrenes (4-5) 89-62 on Tuesday evening for the first time in program history at the Tom Golisano Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Olivia Nickerson shattered the record for threes made in a single game (11). The previous record holders were Maci Heimlich (2019), Madison Schrock (2015), and Joy Ketelsen (2001) who stood at a three-way tie with eight threes each. Additionally, Nickerson tied Natalie Young (2006) for points scored in a single game (39).

Izzy Nooe recorded a season high of 16 points, shooting 85 percent from the field.

Isabel Scales led the team in rebounds with eight (4-4), while Mariah Claywell led the team in assists (seven).

Bethel stayed consistent throughout the entirety of the matchup, making 100 percent of their shots at the line (9-9), shooting 53 percent from the field, and all while never dropping the lead.

The Pilots had their greatest showing in the second quarter, racking up two separate 11 point runs while totaling 30 points in the quarter.

Head Coach Scott Polsgrove shared, “What a great way to put an exclamation point on our Florida trip. Really proud of the way we defended and it was fun to watch a special performance by Olivia Nickerson.”

The Pilots will next face Siena Heights University (4-4) on Wed, Dec. 31. Tip-off is set for 1 PM at the Siena Heights Fieldhouse.
