The Holy Cross College women's soccer team put together a determined performance on Thursday night at Saints Field, but ultimately fell 2–1 to St. Francis (IL) in the CCAC Semifinals. The Saints created early momentum, outshooting the Fighting Saints 9–8 in the opening half and generating several dangerous chances, but St. Francis capitalized on two opportunities in the 26th and 36th minutes to take a 2–0 lead into halftime. The Holy Cross College men's basketball team opened the IUNW Classic in dramatic fashion Friday night, securing an 89–81 overtime victory over IU Columbus to improve to 3–1 on the season. The Saints showed grit and composure throughout a tightly contested game that featured eight ties and four lead changes. After trailing 38–37 at halftime, Holy Cross battled back in the second half behind steady guard play and timely shot-making. Jayden Sanders' late free throws and defensive effort helped push the game into overtime tied at 75–75. WINONA LAKE, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots (2-0) defeated the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (1-2) 84-52 on Day One of the Val Weinstein Classic on Friday evening. Previous to Friday's matchup, Bethel had not faced Lawrence Tech in over a decade. The Pilots last defeated Lawrence Tech 72-59 on Oct. 24, 2014.
