SPRING ARBOR, Mich. — The Bethel Pilots (10-22, 5-19) dropped games three and four of the Spring Arbor (21-15, 13-11) series 5-2 and 9-1 on Saturday at Hank Burdridge Field.

GAME 3

Lucas Thorn got the Pilots on the board with an RBI single to bring in Drew Deming to take the 1-0 lead in the top of the third, then Corbin Greenslade plated Hudson Francis after grounding into a double play and made it a 2-0 game.

Eli DeVisser broke up the shutout in the bottom of the third from an RBI single to score Jake Spedoske, then Braydon Gregory scored two runs from a bases-clearing double to take the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth.

The Cougars scored again in the fourth from Conner Barkel’s sacrifice fly to right to score Brenden Phillips, then Phillips scored the fifth run by drawing a catcher’s interference and the game went scoreless for four innings to give SAU game three 5-2.

Andrew Gerber (0-2) threw five innings and allowed six hits, and five runs, walked two batters, and struck out two in his second loss of the season.

GAME 2

Adam Walters and Trammell Lindstrom dueled through the first three innings before Phillips scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth followed by a two-RBI single by Joey Tessmer to give SAU a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, another error scored Ryan Gonzalez, and Gregory hit a sacrifice fly and extended the Cougar lead to 5-0. Aiden Brunin scored Tessmer on an RBI double in the sixth, and Phillips roped a three-run home run to take a 9-0 advantage.

Jesse Stout broke up the shutout by scoring Adam Walters on a groundout to short in the top of the seventh, but SAU would walk away with a 9-1 win and the series sweep.
