THE FINAL TALLY: Purdue ended the season with a 24-12 record and a spot in the Sweet 16 for the sixth time in the last eight years. The Boilermakers lost a heartbreaker to eventual national runner-up Houston in the Sweet 16, preventing Purdue its fourth straight 25-win season.

IN THE TOP 25: Purdue finished the season ranked No. 14 in the final AP Top 25 poll released Tuesday after the National Championship game.

  • It marks the fifth straight year that Purdue was ranked in the final poll (20th – 2021; 10th – 2022; 3rd – 2023; 2nd – 2024; 14th – 2025).
  • Purdue is now one of four teams to be ranked in the top 15 in the final poll in four straight years (Purdue, Houston, Duke, Arizona).
  • The five straight years ranked in the final poll is the longest streak in school history.
  • The Boilermakers were also ranked 12th in the final coaches poll.

SOME KEY NOTES: Purdue made the NCAA Tournament for the 10th straight time, the fourth-longest streak in the country and the fourth-longest streak ever by a Big Ten team.

  • Purdue has reached the Sweet 16 six times in the last eight tournaments, behind only Gonzaga’s seven Sweet 16 appearances.
  • Purdue finished tied for fourth in the Big Ten race, the fifth straight year it has finished in the top four of the Big Ten standings. Purdue has finished top four in 10 of the last 11 seasons.
  • Purdue has won nine games over the last four NCAA Tournaments, tied for the fourth most in the country (UConn – 13; Duke – 12, Houston – 12).
  • Matt Painter’s eight Sweet 16 apperances at Purdue are the third most in Big Ten history (Izzo – 16; Knight – 14).

ALL-AMERICA U.: With Braden Smith earning first-team All-America accolades, Purdue is the only current team in America to have three straight seasons of having a first-team consensus All-American (2023, 2024 – Zach Edey).

  • With Jaden Ivey earning second-team consensus honors in 2022, Purdue is the first school since Kansas (6 yrs; 2009 to 14) to have four straight years of consensus All-American honors.

1 OF 1: Braden Smith became the first player in NCAA history with 500 points, 300 assists, 150 rebounds and 75 steals in a season.

  • Smith is the only player in NCAA history with 1,300 points, 700 assists and 500 rebounds through the end of his junior season.

NATION’S LEADER AGAIN: Trey Kaufman-Renn led the country in field goals made with 292.

  • It marked the second straight season that a Purdue player will lead the country in field goals made (2024 – Zach Edey, 336).

SCHOOL RECORDs: Senior Caleb Furst tied a school record with 141 career games played.

  • Braden Smith now ranks 1-2 on the single-season minutes played list (1,333 in 2025; 1,327 in 2024).
  • Braden Smith also ranks 1-2 on the single-season assists list at not only Purdue, but the Big Ten Conference (313 in 2025; 292 in 2024).
  • Braden Smith owns the school record for career assists (758).

SHARP SHOOTERS: Purdue led the Big Ten (league games only) in field goal percentage (.503) for the third time in the last four seasons (3rd in 2023).

  • The 50.3 percent shooting was the third-highest percentage in Big Ten play in the last 25 years.
  • In addition, Purdue finished the season 16th nationally in 3-point percentage, the third time in the last four years that Purdue has finished in the top 20 of 3-point percentage.
  • Over the last two seasons, Purdue leads the country in 3-point percentage (.393), making 615-of-1,566 from long range. Kentucky is second at 39.1 percent.

FINAL LEADER BOARD: Purdue ranks high in several categories both in the Big Ten and NCAA rankings.

24th in assist / turnover ratio (top 30 in each of last 4 seasons).
