RV Bethel Women’s Soccer improve to 5-1, record fourth straight shutout

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Leena Thomas had a big night with two goals in the first half and helped the Bethel Pilots (5-1-0) to get their fourth straight shutout and Lauren Gatewood’s first career shutout in the net.

Thomas struck early in the match with an unassisted goal in the center of the box in the 10th minute and two minutes later in the 12th minute from Karly Harkness’s near-side cross to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Pilots improved to 4-8-1 all-time and 2-1-1 at home and defeated the Golden Eagles at home for the first time since 2022 in a 3-2 victory.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots hit the latter end of the non-conference slate with the Lourdes Graywolves in Sylvania, Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 14 at noon. The Graywolves are 3-0 coming into the matchup after a 1-0 clean sheet win over the University of Olivet in Olivet, Mich.
