Saint Francis sweeps past Bethel baseball

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Baseball team (8-14, 3-9) and the Saint Francis Cougars (14-10, 5-7) battled in games three and four of the series as Bethel lost game three 15-6

GAME 1

Seth Ambrose homered in the bottom of the second, bringing in Thomas Dolan and Jesse Stout for three RBIs.

In the bottom of the 4th, Ambrose doubled to bring in Stout again, and Elijah Gaines doubled to left field to bring home Ambrose.

The bottom of the 7th is when Saint Francis let in four runs off two hits as the Cougars gained a 9-5 lead over the Pilots.

Saint Francis continued to put up runs as they hit off multiple Pilot pitchers.

Ty Mickiewicz pitched five innings, allowing three runs, and struck out two.

Kolby Kovatch pitched four innings, allowing six runs, and walked three.

GAME 2

St. Francis started scoring in the top of the second, scoring three runs and four more in the top of the third.

Bethel could have scored one run in the bottom of the third when Landkrohn flew out to center, but Dillon made it home.

Dillon also walked in the 4th, bringing everyone around the bases and Stout home.

St. Francis added a couple more, which Bethel couldn’t match, resulting in an 11-2 loss for the Pilots.

Noah Borwege pitched two innings, let three runs in, walked three, and struck out three.

Riley Thomas pitched for three, let up six runs and three walks, and struck out two.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots will travel to Huntington, Ind., to take on the Foresters on Mar. 22. at 1 p.m. for the first pitch.
