Saints Men’s Tennis Wins CCAC Title on Senior Day

The Holy Cross College men’s tennis team claimed their third CCAC Championship title on Friday afternoon, defeating Olivet Nazarene University 4-0 on a special Senior Day celebration.

The Saints started strong in doubles play. The duo of Luca McMannus and Perry Gregg earned a 6-2 victory, while Oscar Wai and Naithaolin Golmei matched that with a 6-2 win of their own to secure the doubles point. Ciaran McCarthy and Matthew Jezyk battled hard but fell 3-6.

In singles action, Holy Cross dominated. Matthew Jezyk cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Oscar Wai was nearly flawless in a 6-0, 6-1 win. Their performances helped the Saints quickly clinch the match and the championship.

The match also served as Senior Day for Perry Gregg and Ciaran McCarthy, two pillars of the program over the past four years. Gregg leaves behind an incredible legacy, having been named an NAIA All-American three consecutive years, Freshman of the Year during his first season, NAIA ITA Rookie of the Year, and a three-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete. McCarthy, a three-time team captain, is also a three-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, recognized for his leadership both on and off the court.

Congratulations to the Saints on another championship and to our outstanding seniors, Perry and Ciaran, for their remarkable careers at Holy Cross!
