SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (14-1, 8-1 CCAC) defeated the Roosevelt University Lakers (6-8, 4-5 CCAC) by a score of 84-68. Wednesday’s victory marks the fourth consecutive win for the Titans, moving them into sole possession of second place in the CCAC. Having played one less conference contest at this point in the season, IU South Bend trails only Saint Xavier University, with whom the Titans own the tiebreaker thanks to a 78-66 victory on November 16th.

The Titans were led by senior guard Katie Gard who matched her season high in scoring with 26 points. Gard’s 26 points came on better than 75% shooting from the field as well as a perfect 4-4 from the three point line. Gard’s 26 points in Wednesday’s contest boosts her season scoring average to 15 points per game which leads all Titans.

Maddie Gard led IU South Bend in minutes with 29 while doing a little bit of everything. Gard flirted with triple-double status by finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Seven assists from Gard shatters her previous season high of four which happened four other times.

Tia Chambers finished four rebounds shy of a double-double with 13 points and six rebounds in only 16 minutes of playing time.

Emma Fisher matched her season high in scoring by finishing with 12 points, which she reached just one other time this year in a 107-42 victory over Ohio Christian in the third game of the season.

As a team, IU South Bend shot over 50% from the field, over 45% from the three point line, and nearly 90% from the free throw line.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, January 7th, when they travel to Palos Heights to take on the Trolls of Trinity Christian University.
