SHERIDAN’S LARRY WRIGHT NAMED COLTS ‘COACH OF THE YEAR’

Indianapolis – Larry Wright of Sheridan High School has been named the Colts Coach of the Year, presented by Corteva Agriscience, the Indianapolis Colts announced today.

Wright was nominated and selected after completing his 58th season of coaching high school football. He currently ranks ninth in the nation for total coaching victories at 457.

Since taking over the Sheridan football program in 1966, Wright has led the program to a record of 457-213, including nine state championships.

With this award, Wright will be nominated for the NFL’s Don Shula High School Coach of the Year award, which honors football coaches who display the integrity, achievement and leadership exemplified by Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history.

The NFL will select two winners, one each from the AFC and NFC, from among the 32 club nominees. Both will be invited to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games in Orlando, Fla. and Super Bowl LVII in Las Vegas.

Also, the two winners each will receive a $10,000 personal prize and a $15,000 grant from the NFL Foundation for their football program. The other 30 nominees will receive a $1,000 prize.
