Taylor Selected as Host Site for 2024 NAIA Opening Round
Â
KANSAS CITY – The NAIA announced its 10 host sites for the 2024 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round on Wednesday, and Taylor University’s Winterholter Field was chosen as a host facility for the third consecutive year and fourth time in its history. TU’s first selection as a host site occurred in 2018.
The Opening Round is set to run from May 13-16, with six locations fielding five teams, and four locations having four teams compete. The winner of each double-elimination bracket will advance to the 2024 NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
The 18th-ranked Trojans (37-13, 30-6 CL) received an automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round from its Crossroads League regular season title, though many teams are still awaiting their fate as conference tournaments play out. The full list of qualified teams and pairings is scheduled to be released May 9 at 5 p.m. eastern.
Before national tournament play begins, Taylor seeks to secure its sixth Crossroads League Tournament Championship in head coach Kyle Gould’s tenure.
The double-elimination portion of the CL Tournament bracket begins Thursday, with first-seeded TU playing its opening game versus sixth-seeded Marian (23-25, 17-19 CL) at 2:30 p.m. at Winterholter Field.
