Kaycie Warfel Gains National Recognition after Averaging 37.5 Points Per Game Last Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kaycie Warfel of Taylor (Ind.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, following a pair of standout performances. Warfel’s performances were instrumental in leading the Trojans to two decisive victories.

Warfel, a freshman from Pendleton, Indiana, averaged 37.5 points per game over the week. She shot 58.5 percent from the field, including an impressive 70 percent from beyond the arc, hitting seven of her 10 attempts. Warfel was also nearly automatic at the free-throw line, converting 20 of her 23 attempts for an 87.0 percent success rate.

In the Trojans’ matchup against RV Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Warfel delivered a career-high 38 points, contributing five three-pointers and three assists in a commanding 111-90 victory. Her offensive explosion helped Taylor secure a 21-point win.

Warfel continued her scoring spree in an 87-62 victory at IU Columbus (Ind.), where she netted 37 points. She was particularly dominant in the third quarter, scoring 16 of Taylor’s first 20 points.

Over the two games, Warfel logged an average of 34 minutes per game, maintaining her shooting consistency with a 57.1 field goal percentage. In addition to her scoring, Warfel contributed defensively with a total of seven steals and three blocks over the week.
