Texas A&M back to No. 1 in NFCA/GoRout DI Top 25 Coaches Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas A&M is back as the No. 1 team in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Aggies (43-9), who collected 17 first-place votes, won a pivotal road series at No. 5 Tennessee to finish second in the Southeastern Conference regular season.

Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon and Tennessee rounded out the top five this week. The Sooners (43-7) dropped two-of-three at then-No. 9 Florida, but that lone victory clinched the SEC regular season in their first go around in the league. OU, which earned 10-first-place votes, edged out the Aggies and the third-ranked Longhorns (45-9) by a half and one game, respectively.

Texas swept Kentucky at home, while the Ducks (47-6) went 3-1 last week and secured the Big Ten crown after the then-No. 6 UCLA Bruins were defeated two out of three games at Northwestern.

No. 6 Florida State clinched its 15th Atlantic Coast Conference championship with a 2-1 series win at No. 13 Virginia Tech. The Seminoles (44-8) thumped the Hokies (40-10) in the first two games, before VT rallied for an 8-6 win in the finale and avoided the sweep.

Arkansas, which collected a first-place vote, and Florida tied for the seventh spot. The Razorbacks (38-11) took two-of-three from No. 10 LSU, while the Gators (43-13) closed out with a series win over the Sooners.

The only movement in the poll outside the top 10 occurred between No. 17 and No. 22. Mississippi State and Ole Miss switch spots after the Bulldogs (35-15) took the series from the Rebels (35-16). Nebraska moved back into the top 20 at No. 19 trading places with No. 20 Alabama. The last flip flop came with Duke moving to No. 21 and Ohio State dipping to No. 22.
