Texas A&M vaults to No. 1 for first time in program history

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the first time in program history, Texas A&M is the No 1 team in the  NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Aggies (37-5) are coming off a sweep of then-No. 5 LSU in Southeastern Conference action, which ran their win streak to 12 games.

After holding the No. 5 spot for four straight weeks, Texas A&M (24 first-place votes) inched closer each of the last two weeks before skipping the No. 2 ranking and going straight to the top. No. 2 was the program’s previous highest ranking, achieved twice during the 2008 season when the Aggies were national runners-up. All five of Texas A&M’s defeats this season have come against teams currently inside the top 25 of the NCAA’s RPI.

Texas, which had held the No. 1 ranking the last three weeks, dipped to No. 3 following its first SEC series loss of the season to new-No. 4 Tennessee. The Longhorns (39-5) did receive five first-place votes.

The 2025 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches with one representing each of the NCAA’s Division I Conferences. Polls will be released Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. throughout the regular season. Records reflect games played through April 13, 2025.
