Thad Frame Named Next HU Baseball Coach

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University athletic director Lori Culler has announced the hiring of Thad Frame as the new head coach of the Forester baseball program. Frame is the 12th head baseball coach and succeeds his father Coach Mike Frame.

“First off, I’d like to thank President Emberton, Dr. Russ Degitz and Lori Culler for entrusting me with the baseball program,” said Coach Thad Frame. “With their help we have made some major increases to help us compete at the national level and stay there.

“Obviously it is a tremendous honor to take over the program that my father has built over the past 38 years. I will work tirelessly to hold onto the reputation that he has created for the program and take it to the next level. I tell people all the time, I was born and raised a Forester. This University and the baseball program have helped shaped me into the man I am today, so it is an honor to lead this program.”

Frame is approaching nearly two decades of connection with HU having spent four years as the Foresters’ starting shortstop followed by 13 years as the program’s top assistant which includes serving as the associate head coach most recently.

“Coach Thad Frame is one of the best leaders that I have ever been around,” said HU baseball senior Jarret Gray. “He is somebody who leads by example and pushes me and the team to be better on and off the field even when we don’t want to be pushed.

“I have learned many things from him that I apply to all aspects of my life.”

In addition to his experience at Huntington, Frame was an assistant at Miami University and for Carolina Chaos in the Southern League, a Minor League Baseball league. He also claims three years of experience working with hitters for two different teams in the highly competitive Northwood Summer Collegiate League.

“We are thrilled to have Thad follow in his father’s footsteps by taking the reins of our baseball program,” said Culler. “He has played a major role in the success of the program from his playing days as a Forester to the last 13 years as an assistant coach.

“He has been well-trained and is prepared to take this next step in his career. We’re excited and anxious to see where his leadership will take the program.”

During his playing days at Huntington, Frame earned two All-Conference badges and was named a preseason NAIA All-American in 2007. Frame graduated from HU in 2009 with a BS in Sport Management.
