Three Big Ten Teams Selected for NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Championship
Michigan, Minnesota and Notre Dame earn bids
ROSEMONT, Ill. – Three Big Ten teams were selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship, with Michigan, Minnesota and Notre Dame earning bids.
Big Ten Tournament Champion Michigan is the No. 1 overall seed in the Allentown Regional in Allentown, Pa., and will face No. 4 American International on ESPNU at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, March 25 at PPL Center. The Wolverines are making their 39th NCAA Tournament appearance and their second straight. Michigan has reached the Frozen Four 25 times, including its most recent appearance in 2018.

Big Ten Champion Minnesota returns to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and the 39th time in program history. The Golden Gophers will be the No. 2 seed in the Worcester Regional in Worcester, Mass., and will face the defending National Champion Massachusetts on ESPNU at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 25 at the DCU Center. Minnesota has reached the Frozen Four 21 times.

Notre Dame returns to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive season and the 13th time in program history. The Fighting Irish will be the No. 3 seed in the Albany Regional in Albany, N.Y., and will face No. 2 seed North Dakota on ESPNU at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 26 at the MVP Arena. Notre Dame has reached the Frozen Four twice in the last four seasons, finishing as the runner-up in 2018.
