GRANGER, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (18-21, 12-8 CCAC) swept a doubleheader over the Indiana University Purdue University Columbus Crimson Pride (3-37) by scores of 16-1 and 5-0. Tuesday’s sweep of the Crimson Pride extends the IU South Bend winning streak to five games.

Game 1

The Titans struck first in game one, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first thanks to an RBI triple from Logan Smith and an RBI groundout by Brenden Bell.

IU South Bend plated five more runs in the bottom of the second inning thanks to RBI singles by Anthony Pohl, Logan Smith, and Brenden Bell followed by a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Kaleb Farnham.

IUPUC scored their only run of Tuesday’s doubleheader when shortstop Wyatt Sutton singled in the top of the third to cut the Crimson Pride Deficit to 7-1.

Two more Titans crossed the plate in the bottom of the third via RBI single by Josiah Nelson and a sacrifice fly by catcher Anthony Pohl.

Shortstop Brett Sikorski’s fourth inning RBI double extended the IU South Bend lead to 10-1 through four innings of play.

Five more Titans crossed the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to RBI singles by Logan Smith, Kaleb Farnham, Kole Miller, and Owen Benson.

IUPUC went scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings as the Titans went on to win game one by a score of 16-1.

Game 2

IU South Bend took an early lead in game two when RBI walks from Brett Sikorski and Hunter Bedell drove in Logan Smith and Brenden Bell, giving the Titans a 2-0 lead after just one inning.

Three more runs Titans crossed the plate in the bottom of the third via walk, wild pitch, and an error to extend the IU South Bend lead to 5-0.

Five runs would be more than enough in game two as pitchers Bryson Taylor, Devin Smith, Sam Hinshaw, and Gabe Cortez combined for a shutout of the Crimson Pride, giving the Titans a 5-0 victory in game two.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Friday, April 21st, when they travel to Bourbonnais, Ill. to square off with the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene University in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM ET.
