WHEELING, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (7-16, 3-3 CCAC) defeated the Trinity International University Trojans (11-12, 1-5 CCAC) by a score of 11-1. Friday’s victory improves the Titans CCAC record to 3-3, moving them into a tie for fourth place in conference.

Junior right handed pitcher Matt Lood started for IU South Bend, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out one in two innings of work.

The lone Trojan run crossed the plate thanks to an RBI single by TIU first baseman Christian Soria-Navarro in the second.

Riley Getman relieved Lood in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the third in his only inning of work.

Senior right handed pitcher Robbie Berger came on in relief of Getman and shined in his six innings of work. Berger pitched six scoreless innings, only allowing two hits and striking out a season best seven hitters to pick up his third save of the season.

Offensively, shortstop Brett Sikorski got the Titans on the board with a bases clearing 3 RBI triple that gave the Titans a 3-1 lead.

Second baseman Jake VanderWoude singled driving in Sikorski, to put the Titans up 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

A sacrifice fly by Kaleb Farnham and an RBI single by Drew Barber plated two more IU South Bend runs in the fifth, giving the Titans a 6-1 lead.

The Titans added five insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning thanks to RBI singles by Brenden Bell and Nick Banks, an RBI hit by pitch by Drew Barber, and a sacrifice fly by Brett Sikorski.

A pair of punch outs for Robbie Burger shut the door in the bottom of the ninth to give the Titans an 11-1 victory.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Sunday, March 26th, when they host the Trinity International University Trojans at 1:00 PM looking for the season sweep.
