Titans earn CCAC win in four sets over Olivet Nazarene

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (3-23, 3-7 CCAC) won their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match against the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers (8-16, 4-6 CCAC) by final scores of 25-12, 19-25, 25-13, and 25-21.

In set one, IU South Bend jumped out to a commanding 13-5 lead before the Olivet Nazarene came storming back, getting the game as close as 15-12. The Titans then proceeded to score the next 10 points of the set to win set one 25-12.

The Tigers of Olivet Nazarene took a 5-1 lead in set two and did not surrender the lead, going on to win set two before IUSB rebounded in set three, winning the set by a final score of 25-13 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Set four was tied at 8-8 before Indiana University South Bend scored six of the next eight points to take a 14-10 lead. The Titans did not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the set and went on to win 25-21 to defeat Olivet Nazarene in four sets.

A ferocious IU South Bend offense featured four different players to record at least 10 kills, led by Taylor Hostetler who finished with 12 kills. Other Titans with double digit kills included Macy Sherman who finished with 11, Ryleigh Grott who finished with 10 and Madison Figg who also finished with 10. Sophomore setter Brynn Lake led the IUSB passing game with 42 assists.

The Indiana University South Bend defense saw three different players finish with at least 10 digs. Defensive specialist Sydney Hanna finished with a team high 22 digs while Brynn Lake finished with 13 and Abby Weber finished with 10.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Thursday, October 24th, when they travel to Palos Heights, Illinois, to take on the Trolls of Trinity Christian College at 8:00 PM ET.
