TITANS HOLD OFF CCSJ 77-65 ON THE ROAD

WHITING, IND. –After watching its three-game winning streak come to an end at Trinity Christian, Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball bounced back to defeat Calumet College of St. Joseph on the road on Wednesday evening by a score of 77-65. The Titans improve to 8-4 overall and 4-2 during Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Titans used a strong first half to defeat the Crimson Wave, outscoring CCSJ 40-23 in the first 20 minutes. Three different Titans scored in double figures including a team-high 16 points from sophomore Tracy Miles. Transfer Sergio Diaz added 13 while Donyell Meredith II collected 10 points.

Meredith added three blocks, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks for IUSB while Kenny Washington added four assists. Junior Norell Smith added a team-high 10 rebounds off nine defensive and one offensive.

Five different Titans added steals for five total steal as IUSB scored 13 points off turnovers compared to just three for the Wave. The big difference in the game was the bench points as IUSB held the 32-13 advantage.

As a team, IUSB shot 41.2 percent from the floor, 33.3 from three and 70 from the charity stripe to earn its eighth victory of the season.

IUSB is back in action Saturday, Dec. 7 to host Indiana University Northwest at 3 p.m. inside the Student Activities Center. This season the Titans are 4-1 having lost to Bethel on Nov. 1.
