Titans Finish Season with Postseason Appearance

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — IU South Bend’s season came to a close Wednesday night with an 84-68 loss to Trinity Christian in the CCAC Tournament Quarterfinals at DeVos Gym.

The Titans came out sharp and controlled the early minutes, building a 13-8 lead midway through the first half. Andrew Hedgepeth and Mark White helped set the tone offensively, as the duo scored or assisted on 11 of the team’s first 13 points.

Trinity Christian answered with a 9-0 run, igniting what would become a torrid shooting night for the Trolls. The two teams traded baskets for much of the remainder of the half, but Trinity Christian moved ahead late and carried a 43-35 lead into halftime, shooting nearly 68 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

The momentum continued after the break. The Trolls, playing what is likely their final game in DeVos Gym, shot 58.8 percent for the game and 40 percent from beyond the arc, consistently answering every Titan push.

IU South Bend did its best to stick around and within reach. The Titans trimmed the deficit to seven points on three separate occasions in the second half. A three from CJ Hornbeak, an interior finish from Ethan Hill, and aggressive drives from Olagbegi kept hope alive. But each time, Trinity Christian responded—often with timely threes or finishes in transition—to maintain separation.

Hornbeak found success from long range for the Titans with 13 points and three triples, while Hill added 13 points and seven rebounds. Colin Schmidt contributed 10 points, and Olagbegi finished with eight points and five assists.

The Titans will now say farewell to two graduating seniors, Kyle Millender and Ethan Hill.

IU South Bend finishes the 2025-26 campaign with an 18-11 overall record and a fifth-place finish in the CCAC.
