Titans Show Out at Home

SOUTH BEND – IU South Bend controlled every facet of the game on Friday night, overwhelming Calumet College of St. Joseph in a 97-44 victory at the Student Activities Center. The Titans led wire-to-wire, pulled ahead by double digits in the opening quarter, and never allowed CCSJ to recover in what became a convincing victory.

IUSB set the tone immediately behind efficient scoring and active defense, taking a 22-13 first-quarter lead before blowing the game open in the second with a 27-point frame. By halftime, the Titans had already built a 49-30 advantage. But it was the 29-4 third quarter that turned the night into a runaway. CCSJ went 1-for-11 from the field in the period, enduring a six-minute drought without a field goal as IU South Bend’s defense took over the game.

The Titans’ dominance was reflected across the box score — every player scored, every player grabbed at least one rebound, and four reached double figures.

Tenleigh Phelps paced the offense early and finished with seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists in just 19 minutes. Aubrie Booker brought the perimeter firepower with 19 points and three threes, while Keylee Hudson was nearly perfect from the floor, scoring 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Bradie Chambers added 12 points and six assists, running the offense with efficiency.

The breakout performance of the night came from Ashlee Schram, who sparked IUSB with back-to-back layups in the second quarter and posted season highs of eight points and nine rebounds, adding two steals in 13 minutes off the bench.

The Titans shot 54.4 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three, while the defense forced 28 turnovers, converting them into 22 points. IU South Bend also won the battle in the paint decisively, outscoring CCSJ 50-26 inside.

By the fourth quarter, the Titans led by as many as 53 points, their largest margin of the season, and closed out the win with another balanced stretch of scoring and defensive stops.

IU South Bend improved to 15-6 (9-3 CCAC) on Monday night and will be right back in action on Wednesday, battling Mount Mary at home at 5:30 pm.
