Truty Named Head Coach of Purdue Northwest Women’s Soccer
HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. –
Purdue Northwest Athletics announced Friday the hiring of Jake Truty as the university’s new women’s soccer head coach.  Truty joins the Pride after a long stint at Robert Morris University in Chicago where he served as the men’s soccer head coach from 2007-2016 as well as an assistant coach for the RMU women’s soccer team from 2001-06.  He also worked as an assistant coach for the PNW men’s soccer team during the 2017 season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jake aboard as our women’s soccer head coach,” said Rick Costello, PNW’s Director of Athletics.  “He has a wealth of coaching experience at the collegiate level for both women’s and men’s teams.  Jake also has a lot of familiarity with the Chicagoland area from his time at Robert Morris and that will be a huge asset for recruiting quality student-athletes for the Pride.”

During his time at Robert Morris, his men’s team won the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season title with a 9-1-0 conference record and a 14-4-0 overall record.  Truty was named the CCAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year following that season.  He also recruited the only two-time NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for the Eagles in program history in Gordy Gurson, who was also named the 2011 CCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year.

Truty also found success at Robert Morris as the women’s lacrosse head coach from 2014-16.  His teams went a combined 41-13 under his leadership and won the 2014 National Women’s Lacrosse League (NWLL) National Championship.  He served as an assistant coach for the program from 2011-13.

In addition to his experience at RMU, Truty served four years (2009-13) as head coach for the Green White Soccer Club in Mount Prospect, Ill.  The team was made of amateur men’s players with both collegiate and professional experience.  Truty was also the goalkeeper coach for the boy’s and girl’s youth programs for the Sockers FC Chicago, a club program based in Palatine, Ill.

“In my short time with the Purdue Northwest men’s soccer program, I have been very excited about working with the Pride Athletics Department,” said Truty.  “I’m so pleased to have been given the opportunity to coach the women’s soccer team and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the next few seasons.  I want to thank Rick Costello for giving me the chance as well as the entire PNW Athletic Department and I can’t wait to meet the returning players who will take the field this fall.”

Truty was a former men’s soccer standout at Aurora University and played professionally for the Rockford Raptors from 1995-97 and for the Albuquerque Geckos in 1998.  He graduated from Aurora in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and resides in Chicago.
