UCLA Claims 2025 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament Title

 

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The fourth seeded UCLA Bruins earned their first Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament title today, with a 5-0 win over No. 3 seed Michigan in the championship match at Ludwig Field in College Park, Md. With the win, the Bruins earn the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.   

 

Redshirt sophomore Sergi Solans Ormo was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after finishing the week with 10 points on four goals and two assists. With three goals in today’s win, Solans Ormo set a program record with three hat tricks on the season and became the first player with a hat trick in the Big Ten Tournament championship game.

 

UCLA opened the scoring in the 13th minute, when Konstantinos Georgallides converted a rebound from a Solans Ormo shot attempt. Solans Ormo then took over the game, notching a natural hat trick with markers in the 38th, 52nd,and 60th minutes. Less than a 90 seconds later, Georgallides completed his brace with an unassisted tally.

 

Bruins’ goaltender Kevin Box posted one save to score his fifth clean sheet of the season.

 

The announcement of the 48-team field for the 2025 NCAA Men’s Soccer be made at 1 p.m. ET Monday on NCAA.com.
