Goddard Named MVC Freshman of the Week

 

Valpo soccer freshman Martha Goddard (London, England/Alleyns School) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week after being involved in all three of the Beacons’ goals last week.

 

Goddard opened the week by assisting on classmate Kiara Desiderio’s goal Thursday evening against Eastern Illinois. Then on Sunday against Wright State, Goddard notched her first collegiate goal to level the match in the second half before assisting on Ashley Harvatin’s match-winner.

 

Goddard is up to five points on the season with one goal and three assists. Her three assists are the most by a Valpo freshman in a single season since 2019. Moreover, Goddard has picked up one assist apiece in each of the last three matches, making her the first Valpo player with an assist in three straight fixtures since Grace Rogers to end the 2017 campaign.
