Vervynckt leads Bethel women’s soccer past Oakland City

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — In the Bethel Pilots’ (2-1-0) home opener and NCCAA matchup with the Oakland City Mighty Oaks (1-2-0), Aubrey Vervynckt scored her third goal of the season.

The Pilots dominated possession with 14 shots and eight on frame and held the Mighty Oaks to five shots all on frame.

Oakland City had a chance to strike first in the 21st minute on a penalty kick that was saved by Meghan Kiebel, then Vervynckt scored from Karly Harkness’ assist that would end up being the game-winner.

NEXT TIME OUT

Bethel won the first-ever meeting against Oakland City and will host the Siena Heights Saints on Wednesday, Sept. 4 with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. at Morey Field.
