2024 NFCA Division I All-America teams revealed

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Fifty-five student-athletes from 35 different institutions have been voted to one of three 2024 NFCA Division I All-America teams, the Association announced on Wednesday afternoon during its annual press conference at the Women’s College World Series (WCWS).

Two programs headed into the WCWS –Florida and Oklahoma –topped the charts with five NFCA All-Americans, including two each on the first team. It is the fourth time the Gators have collected five or more All-Americans, while the Sooners have had at least five All-Americans in each of the last five seasons.

A program making its first trip to Hall of Fame Stadium, Duke, along with fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech followed with three All-Americans, two apiece on the first team. It marked the most All-Americans in one year for both programs, along with the first time each school had two first teamers.

Eight more programs – Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Miami (Ohio), Oklahoma State, Tennessee, UCLA and Wichita State – had two honorees. Both Lady Vols were first teamers, while the Tigers, Cowgirls and Bruins each have one first-team plaudit.

Twenty-three other programs had one student-athlete recognized. Of those 23, second-team Utility/Pitcher Morgan Smith has the honor of being the first NFCA All-American from Rutgers University.

Three student-athletes earned the distinction of four-time NFCA Division I All-American and bring that total to 45. Highlighting the trio is OU shortstop Tiare Jennings who is collecting her fourth first-team plaudit. Jennings is the first Sooner to earn this lofty achievement and the 21st in the NFCA DI All-America annals.

Joining her is Joan Joyce first-team Utility/Pitcher Valerie Cagle from Clemson and Sooner teammate Jayda Coleman, a second-team selection. Not only is Cagle the first four-time Tiger, she is also the first to represent the Atlantic Coast Conference. Coleman, along with Jennings, bring OU’s total to six, one behind Alabama’s record seven first teamers.

Each program participating in the WCWS has at least one All-American and a total of 20 honorees will step on the field at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.
