PNW’s Serna Knocks in Game Winner in 2OT Victory over Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – For the second straight match, the Purdue University Northwest men’s soccer team used some late game heroics to record a 1-0, 2OT victory over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Ashland University Friday night.

 

Just a minute in to the second overtime period, Enrique Serna (Majadahonda, Spain/Colegio san Jaime) ripped a free kick from just outside the 18 – yard box on the right side and beat the keeper over the top to knock in the game winner.

 

Goalkeeper Brad Brack (Crown Point, Ind./Merrillville) earned the clean sheet, notching eight saves in 102 minutes in goal.

 

Serna, Daniel Freedman (New Castle, England/Monkseaton Academy) and Matt Bahena (Alsip, Ill./Eisenhower) each tallied a pair of shots to lead the Pride’s offensive efforts.

 

Purdue Northwest wraps up its road trip with a GLIAC contest against Saginaw Valley State at 1:30 pm (CST). in Saginaw, Mich.
