MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots defeated the Marion Knights 3-1 in a game that was decided due to weather to send the Pilots to the Crossroads League Championship on Saturday.
Luan Bressy struck first from a cross by Julian Vargas Talamantes in the 37th minute to put the Pilots up 1-0 in an early battle of possession and went into halftime with the lead. Vargas tallied his sixth assist of the season, and Bressy scored his fourth goal.
Luan Bressy connected with Sodai Koketsu, who found the back of the net for his fourth goal and Bressy’s fifth assist.
Marian’s Kameron Hooker broke their silent streak with a goal in the 51st minute to chip away at the deficit, but Sami Charaf Amal netted his fifth goal in the 72nd minute off Tim Noeding’s sixth assist this season.
The game was ended due to two lightning delays that totaled about 50 minutes and was called with 12 minutes left in regulation.
The Pilots now have a nine-game winning streak over the Knights and an eight-game winning streak in the Crossroads League Tournament.
