  • All seven schools will be in action this weekend, including a rematch of the 2018 Big Ten Tournament final to open conference play. No. 7/9 Ohio State will hit the road on Friday and Saturday to take on No. 5/5 Notre Dame, which defeated the Buckeyes 3-2 in overtime to win the 2018 Big Ten Tournament. Saturday night’s contest between the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish will air at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN…

 

  • The Big Ten Conference will follow a new overtime protocol and points system for the 2018-19 season, including the addition of a 3-on-3 overtime period. Any regular season conference game that remains tied after regulation will play the NCAA-mandated five-minute, 5-on-5 sudden-death overtime period. If the game remains tied, the two teams will then play a five-minute, 3-on-3 sudden-death overtime period. If the game is still tied following both overtime periods, then the game will move to a sudden-death shootout…

 

  • Teams will be awarded three points in the conference standings for a win in regulation or the 5-on-5 overtime period. If the game is tied following the 5-on-5 overtime, both teams will receive one point, with a second point being awarded to the team that wins in either the 3-on-3 overtime period or the shootout…

 

  • Six Big Ten teams appear in the USCHO.com or the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. Notre Dame paces the conference at No. 5 in both polls. Penn State follows at No. 6/6, Ohio State checks in at No. 7/9, Minnesota comes in at No. 10/8, Michigan is No. 12/13, while Wisconsin rounds out the list at No. 16 in the USCHO.com poll. Those six teams have combined to be ranked in the top five of both polls a total of 108 times, with at least one top-five team in 81 out of 131 weeks…

 

  • Notre Dame’s Bobby Nardella paces all conference players and ranks third nationally with 11 points through six games, while teammate Cal Burke and Wisconsin’s Sean Dhooghe share the Big Ten lead and split fourth nationally in goals with five each…

 

  • Big Ten teams currently occupy six of the top 25 positions on the national team scoring list.   • Three Big Ten standouts who have demonstrated excellence both on and off the ice were selected as candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award in men’s hockey.
