The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Andrean senior pitcher Michael Doolin and Elkhart Memorial junior track and field performer Neil Terrell.
In Friday’s 12-0 blanking of Beecher (Ill.), Doolin not only tossed a five-inning perfect game, but also helped his cause with a two-run double and a three-run home run for the top-ranked and defending Class 3A state champion 59ers (22-1). The triumph was also the 1,000th career win for Andrean coach Dave Pishkur, who joins the late Ken Schreiber of LaPorte as the only two Indiana baseball coaches to achieve this mark.
In Tuesday’s Northern Lakes Conference meet held at Warsaw High School, Terrell helped the Chargers claim their first boys’ team title since 2008 with 127 points. Along with by placing first in the 1,600-meter run (4:31.99), he was also being part of the winning 1,600-meter (3:30.04) and 3,200-meter (8:15.96) relay teams.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
