Chargers Advance to 7th Place Final

Danville, IL – Mike Green scored eight of Ancilla’s final 12 points in the last three minutes as he helped quell a North Central Missouri College comeback. The #12 Chargers (24-10) won 95-87 and will meet #3 Pima Community College of Tucson, AZ Saturday at 1 p.m. eastern for seventh place in the NJCAA Men’s Basketball District II Championships.

Ancilla lead for most of the game and built a 21-point lead with 6:21 left in the game. The #16 Pirates (19-14) clamped down on defense and got more assertive on offense and got to with six points at 86-80. Ty’Sean Sheppard fouled out at that time and Green, who had struggled early took the opportunity to help preserve the victory.

Sheppard finished with 23 points, with Green putting in 17. Albert Haskins was very involved with the offense and had 15 points, with Nathan Meriweather coming off the bench to score 11.

Ancilla is 2-1 in their first appearance at the NJCAA championship.
