Notre Dame, IN. The Holy Cross College women’s basketball hosted Huntington University (Ind.) this afternoon in a non-conference competition. The Saints battled tough but fell to the Foresters by a final score of 64-77. With the loss, women’s basketball stands at 3-2 overall.

The Saints took a quick lead, as junior Keysha Streater scored a layup off a Tagin Schultheisassist. The Foresters battled backed and would go on a 22-16 run to end the first quarter. Streater added six points in the first 10 minutes of action.

Holy Cross would come back and tie it 24-24 with 8:49 left to play in the half, after a Schultheis three. After some back and forth baskets scored by both teams, the score was tied 34-34 with just under three minutes to play in the half. Huntington was able to go on a 5-1 run to put them up 35-39 going into halftime.

Two minutes into the second half, the Saints would tie it back up 42-42 with another Schultheis three. Huntington was able to rally, and take a 55-60 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Saints would cut the lead to two, two minutes into the fourth, but again Huntington was able to go on a run to extend their lead. Poor shooting hurt Holy Cross in the fourth, as the Foresters would take a 58-69 lead with five minutes to play. After hitting some late-clock free throws, Huntington would go to win the game 64-77.

Holy Cross was led in scoring by Tagin Schultheis‘s 21 points. Keysha Streater added 17 point on 8/12 shooting from the field, and junior Jessica Norris recorded 11 points with hitting three 3’s. The Saints shot 41% from the field and 30% from behind the arc.
