IUSB drops five-set heartbreak to Saint Ambrose

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (1-9, 1-2) CCAC fell to the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bees (5-5, 1-1 CCAC) in five sets by scores 25-20, 26-28, 25-21, 20-25, 15-17. Thursday’s loss drops the Titans back under .500 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Titans offense featured three players that reached double digit kills, led by Ryleigh Grott and Macy Sherman who both finished with 16. Ryleigh Grott has now posted double digit kills in back to back games and a total of three times this season.

Macy Sherman recorded her first double-double of the season, posting a season high 16 kills while also reaching at least 10 digs for the sixth time this season

Senior hitter Abby Seeger recorded her fourth game with at least 10 kills while finishing with a season best .433 hitting percentage. Seeger and her teammate Alexis Joyner led the charge at the net, each with four blocks a piece.

Sophomore setter Emma Knowlton dished out a carer best 49 assists in the five set lost to Saint Ambrose, finishing just one assist shy of 10 per set.

Sophomore defensive specialist Sydney Hanna also posted a season best, finishing with 30 digs.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Friday, September 8th, when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., for a doubleheader. The Titans square off with Grace College at 5:00 PM followed by a 7:00 PM match against Aquinas College.
