Pilots Land in First After Opening Round at Rock Hollow

The Bethel women’s golf team played their way to the top of the leaderboard after 18 holes at the Rumble at the Rock. With a team tally of 329, the Pilots are six strokes ahead of Olivet Nazarene and in control of the nine-team field heading into tomorrow’s round.

Leading the charge for the Pilots was senior Jocelyn Ojala who finished the opening round five over par. The 77 gives her a one-stroke advantage going into the second and final round tomorrow. Classmate Annie Smith followed closely behind Ojala by carding an 80, which lands her in fourth position overall out of 52 total participating student-athletes. Rounding out BC’s scorecard was the sister tandem of Chelsea Thomas and Brooke Thomas who carded an 85 and 87, respectively.

The Pilots were also represented by a second team that finished day one sitting in the middle of the pack in fifth place. Leading the charge in that fivesome was Taylor Russell who finished the round with an 84 and in a tie for eighth place overall.
