Women’s Basketball Falls on the Road Against Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Purdue University Northwest women’s basketball team dropped a road contest to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Northern Michigan, 76-38, Thursday night.

 

Brittany Barnard (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) led the Pride with nine points and five rebounds while Danielle Nennig (Wrightstown, Wis./Wrightstown) added seven points.

 

Northern Michigan jump-started the game with a 23-7 lead after the first quarter, while improving on that lead later on heading in to the half with a 40-14 advantage.

 

The Wildcats enhanced its lead in the third quarter but the Pride had a strong fourth, scoring 18 points in the quarter including a trio of trifectas from Molly Devalkenaere (Milwaukee, Wis./Brookfield), Bayley Goodman (Fowler, Ind./Fowler) and Karissa Hucke (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead).

 

Northern Michigan was led by Darby Youngstrom who had 16 points while Jessica Schultz added 13 points.

 

The Pride continue GLIAC play Saturday afternoon against Michigan Tech at noon (CST) in Houghton, Mich.
