Purdue Adds Dartmouth Transfer Evan Boudreaux to Roster

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men’s basketball head coach Matt Painter has announced that Evan Boudreaux has signed his Big Ten tender and will be eligible for the 2018-19 season.

Boudreaux, a Lake Forest, Illinois, native, comes from Dartmouth College where he graduated in three years and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Boudreaux excelled for the Big Green during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, before sitting out last year after announcing an intention to transfer.

“Evan is a very versatile player that will help us in the frontcourt. He can step out and hit the 3-pointer, but is also an excellent post player and rebounder,” Painter said. “The thing you notice about Evan is that he always plays hard and never takes a play off. He is a very smart player that knows how to play the game and we are excited to have him in our program.”

Boudreaux arrives at Purdue after two outstanding seasons at Dartmouth. The 6-foot, 8-inch forward was a two-time USBWA All-District selection, the 2016 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-Ivy League honoree. In two years at Dartmouth, Boudreaux averaged 17.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 54 outings. Bleacher Report called him the 13th most complete player in college basketball.

In conference play, Boudreaux saw his averages increase to 19.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, averaging a double-double in both seasons during conference play. As a freshman, he averaged 20.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game while shooting almost 50 percent (22 of 46; .478) from long distance in Ivy League play.

In his two years, he shot 44.6 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from long range and 76.7 percent from the free throw line and needs 50 points for 1,000 in his career.

As a freshman in 2015-16, he tied an Ivy League record with eight Rookie of the Week honors and set a league freshman scoring record, ranking ninth nationally among freshmen.

Boudreaux owns career highs of 27 points (three times) and 18 rebounds (Cornell; Feb. 19, 2016). He enters the 2018-19 season with 25 career double-doubles.

Boudreaux graduated from Lake Forest High School as one of Illinois’ all-time leaders in points (2,076), field goals (703), free throws (496) and rebounds (1,296). He was a consensus all-state selection and finished third in the voting for Illinois’ Player of the Year.

His mother, Gail, graduated from Dartmouth and was a three-time Ivy League Player of the Year and All-American in both basketball and track and field while his father, Terry, played lacrosse at the University of Georgia.

Purdue posted a 30-7 record while reaching its second straight Sweet 16.
