Purdue Northwest Men’s Soccer Drops its Season Opener to Lewis, 2-0
Romeoville, Ill. – Senior goalkeeper Miguel David (Spring Valley, Calif./Bonita Vista) finished with five saves, but the Purdue University Northwest men’s soccer team dropped its 2017 season opener, 2-0, to Lewis University (Ill.) Thursday night at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill. Senior forward Jose Andriano (Mexico City, Mexico/John F. Kennedy) led the offensive attack for the Pride finishing the game with three total shots, including two on goal.
The Flyers notched both of their goals in the final 20 minutes of regulation. The first came on a header by senior Floris Blom in the 72nd minute of play. The second goal came nine minutes later from freshman Konrad Malinowski off a rebounded shot attempt. PNW finished the game with 11 total shots, including six on goal. Lewis improves to 1-0-0 with the victory in its season and home opener.
The Pride (0-1-0 overall) return to action on Sunday, September 3, with a non-conference road game against University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The game is scheduled for a noon start at Wood Road Soccer Field in Somers, Wis.
