Carrothers named Academic All-American

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in program history, Indiana University Northwest women’s basketball student-athlete Jessica Carrothers has been selected College Sports Communicators Second Team Academic All-America.

The 2023 Academic All-American® Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, who recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Carrothers, who has already been named WBCA and NAIA All-American this offseason becomes the first member of the RedHawks women’s basketball team to capture the honors from three different organizations in one year.

Over her academic career, Carrothers has a cumulative GPA of 3.67 and is a criminal justice major. Athletically, the Highland, Ind., native averaged 27.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.8 steals per game during her sophomore season at IUN.
