Ross Scores, Purdue Northwest Women’s Soccer Drops Road Game to Northwood, 3-1

Midland, Mich. – Despite an early goal by junior Shelby Ross (Marquette, Mich./Columbus North), the Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team fell to Northwood University (Mich.), 3-1, in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action Friday afternoon at Dean Field in Midland, Mich.  With a goal and two assists on the season, Ross has now been involved in all three of PNW’s goals this year.

All of the game’s scoring came in the first half.  The Timberwolves struck first with a goal in the sixth minute of play off the foot of Ashton Brooks.  A nice feed by sophomore forward Madison Berg (Coatesville, Ind./Cascade) to Ross at the 8-minute mark of the game to tie the game at 1-1.  Unfortunately for the Pride, Northwood responded with two more goals, both by Brooks, to complete the game’s scoring.  Brooks got her final two goals in the 33rd and 42nd minutes to complete the hat trick.  Junior Kelley Sharp (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) got the start in goal for Purdue Northwest and finished with six saves over her 90 minutes of work.

The Pride (0-9-0 overall/0-5-0 GLIAC) head to University Center, Mich., to take on Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.) on Sunday, October 8.  The GLIAC game is scheduled for a 11 a.m. CT start at Braddock Field.
