RV Trojans Overpower Goshen for 10th Win

UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor University women’s soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Goshen on Wednesday night at Turner Stadium, as TU racked up 33 shots to tie a season-high, while holding the Maple Leafs to just two shots in the Trojan win.

The Trojans controlled the game from start to finish, posting a 20-1 shot advantage over Goshen (3-9-2, 0-5-1 CL) in the opening 45 minutes of action, with Emily Calvani notching TU’s only goal of the half by bending a corner kick past the goalkeeper in the 20th minute.

Taylor continued the onslaught in the second half, outshooting the visitors, 13-1, and posting two more goals.

Jourdan Lehman netted the first goal of the second half, courtesy of Morgan Orme’s first-career assist in the 49th minute. Orme threaded a cross eight yards in front of the goal, and Lehman deposited it in the goal to give TU a 2-0 lead.

The Purple and Gold added a third goal in the 63rd minute, when Bailey Zehr chipped Hannah Davis’s pass over the keeper’s head to put the finishing touches on the Taylor victory.

The 33 shots matched TU’s highest output on the season, as the Trojans attempted the same number of shots in the home-opener against Roosevelt on September 1.

RV Taylor (10-5, 3-3 CL) will travel to Marion to take on cross-county rival RV Indiana Wesleyan (8-5-1, 2-3-1) on Saturday at 7:00 pm in its next contest.
