DADE CITY, Fla.—The Fire men’s golf team made a strong first round showing in a deep field in the first round of The Sun Conference Championship at Lake Jovita.
Southeastern is tied for second with No. 5 Keiser at four-over as a team, and are just a shot back of No. 10 Johnson & Wales.
Individually, Andres Padilla is at the top of the leaderboard with a first-round score of 67 (-5). He led the field with seven birdies in the first round and Par 4 scoring at 3.7 (-3).
Noah Endicott is in a tie for eighth with an even-par 72 to start the 54 hole tournament. Endicott was second in the field in birdies with six.
Landry Miller was third on the team with a three-over 75, finishing with three birdies and is in a tie for 20th.
Jacob Soucinek and Gonzalo Moreno each carded six-over 78s. Soucinek recorded one of three eagles in the field, marking a three on the Par 5 second hole. Moreno had two birdies, and made the turn at one-over.
The second round begins at 8 a.m. on Monday.
