SEU Women’s Basketball Lands Five on All-TSC Teams

NORTH MIAMI, Fla.- The 2018-19 All-Sun Conference Women’s Basketball Teams were announced on Wednesday as voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches. This year’s teams feature 10 first-team selections and 10 second-team honorees. The No. 3 Southeastern University women’s basketball team led all teams with five all-conference selections.

Senior guard Makenzie Cann and senior forward Elsa Paulsson-Glantz were First Team honorees for SEU.

Cann averaged 14.4 points per Sun Conference contest, shooting 54.2% from the field and 42.7% from behind the arc. Cann also led the league in steals per game, averaging 3.33 swipes per contest and was a two-time Sun Conference Player of the Week.

Paulsson-Glantz averaged 18.8 points per TSC outing. The Lulea, Sweden native was a 53.1% shooter from the field in 18 conference games and was a Sun Conference Player of the Week.

Senior point guard Halee Printz, senior guard Jaycee Coe, and junior center Marlena Schmidt were all Second Team placers for Southeastern.

Printz leads NAIA Division II in assists per game (6.67) and actually eclipsed that mark in Sun Conference action (7.38). Coe averaged 13.6 points, 2.75 three pointers made, and 6.1 rebounds per TSC contest.

Schmidt recorded 51 of her NAIA fourth-ranked 79 blocks in Sun Conference play. The Eighty Four, Penn. native also averaged 11.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in TSC performances.

The Sun Conference Specialty Awards for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character will be announced Thursday evening.

The semifinals of the 2019 Sun Conference Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Shula’s Hotel and Golf Club will take place on Friday, February 22, from The Furnace in Lakeland, Florida.

Semifinal number one, featuring the top-seeded Southeastern Fire versus fifth-seeded Florida Memorial will begin at 5 p.m. Game two, featuring second-seeded St. Thomas versus third-seeded Coastal Georgia is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
