Sheppard Leads Ancilla to MCCAA Win in OT

Plymouth, IN – Lake Michigan College led by as many as 14 points in the first half and Ancilla did not catch them until mid-way through the second half. That is when Ty’Sean Sheppard (South Bend) took over. He finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds and five assists to lead Ancilla (9-2, 1-0) to a 102-96 overtime victory over the Red Hawks (2-10, 0-1) in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association opener for both teams.
Five other Chargers also scored in double figures with Mike Green (South Bend) adding 16, Jarron Tatum (Gary) finishing with 14, Weston Sage (Elkhart) had 13, Mike Hemingway (South Bend) scored 12 and Albert Haskins (Indianapolis) tossed in 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
LMC opened the game on fire from three-point range and connected on 11-18 from deep in the first half to create a separation that the Chargers could not narrow until the 12 minute mark of the second half. There were only three lead changes in the game.
Shedrick Potter had a game-high 33 for Lake Michigan with Khaire Williams netting 26.
Ancilla hosts Muskegon on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start at the LifePlex in Plymouth.
