LAKELAND, Fla.- On a day where the Fire out-hit the Tigers 13-4, the No. 1 Southeastern University baseball team downed the Doane University Tigers 12-0 to improve to 19-3 on the season in the 10-run rule seven-inning final.

Junior right-handed pitcher Marc Soto was dominant on the mound for SEU to start things out. Soto sat down 16 of the first 17 Tigers he faced, striking out five and walking none during that stretch.

The Fire started their night of abundant scoring in the bottom of the first, as senior infielder Ivan Nunez brought Manuel Mesa home on a sacrifice fly to put the Fire ahead 1-0.

Southeastern capitalized on Doane miscues in the bottom of the third, plating four runs on just two hits, two errors, three walks, and a hit by pitch to take a 5-0 lead. The Fire tacked on another in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an RBI single from Nunez. The Miami native totaled three RBIs on the contest, which tied junior outfielder Abdel Guadalupe for the team lead.

The Fire doubled their lead in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six more runs on six hits. RBI base hits by Alex Mangome, Guadalupe, Dominic Anagnos, and Mesa highlighted the big frame.

Anagnos was a perfect 3-3 on the night at the plate.

Soto improved to 2-1 on the season with the winning decision.

Southeastern is back in action tomorrow afternoon at Ted A. Broer Stadium with a doubleheader against the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers. Game times are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m..
